The Diocese of Killaloe has chosen the Odhrán Pastoral Area and Nenagh Parish as the venue for this year’s Chrism Mass.
On Wednesday 27 March at 7.30pm, Priests from around the Diocese will gather at St Mary of the Rosary Church and renew their vows. They will be joined by the new Odhrán Pastoral Area Choir.
During this Mass the Holy Oils are consecrated or blessed. The Holy Oils are:
- Chrism – used in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation & Holy Orders, as well as for the consecration of altars and the dedication of churches.
- the oil of catechumens, also used in the sacrament of Baptism
- the Oil of the Sick – used only in the rite of the Anointing of the Sick
